Tips for Selling and/or getting ready for an Appraisal for your home
Now that you have made the decision to sell your home, where do you begin?? Well, you probably want your home to sell quickly and for top dollar! Who doesn't, right?!?
There are several things that you can do to help yourself be successful.
First, DE-Clutter your Home:
Your want potential buyers to come into your home and say, "WOW!, Look at the possibilities!". Less IS Better. Remove about 1/2 of your belongings from closets and cupboards. Everyone wants a home with a lot of storage. Organize your closets and storage areas to enhance the storage potential. Consider hiring a professional Home Stager to increase your homes appeal.
De-Personalize:
Remove family pictures, memorabilla and personal keepsakes. You want your potential buyers to be able to see themselves living there. Again, Less is Better.
First Impressions:
Curb Appeal, Curb Appeal, Curb Appeal. Make a great first impression! Don't forget to spruce up the outside of your home. As potential buyers drive by, they will make a decision as to whether to stop and come see the inside of your home based on the outside. Pull weeds, mow the grass, have brightly colored flowers welcoming your guests in.
Kitchens can be a Deal Maker/Breaker
Don't underestimate the power of your kitchen! Many buyers will base their decision on the kitchen. Any money you spend updating your kitchen will be money well spent! A neutral paint color, new cabinet hardware, updated appliances. Counter space sells. Remove clutter from your counter tops to enhance your kitchen.
Let the Light In:
A major selling point is natural light. Open the blinds, keep the windows clean, trim the outside hedges. Let as much natural light in as possible.
No Animals:
It's ok if you have pets, just don't have them at the home your trying to sell. Have them stay with a friend if you are going to be showing your home. Not all people are animal lovers. Put away food and water bowls and clean up animal hair.
